BIOGRAPHY
Oscar Law (Law Yat Sun) was born in Hong Kong. He has participated in different cultural and artistic creation, children and parents education and multimedia work since 1991. He was also the Chief director and the Art director in different Art training centres of children education.
In recent years, he pulled out all the stops to develop in children illustration books and children educational research in art. He has many speaking engagements with different parties in different places. He made the open lessons for many students and teachers in different places to develop children illustration books education. Hope to bring beautiful art for all children in the world.
Besides working in cultural arts and education, Oscar was a news reporter in cultural arts news, an editor in computer design magazine and an editor-in-chief in several architectural design magazines from 1991 to 2005. He also wrote his fiction and published his books and periodicals from 1987. In 1992, he was an illustrator of The Hong Kong Children’s Art Society and he was the member of the board of directors of The Hong Kong Children’s Art Society in 2014.
Oscar took part in The Cross-Strait and Hong Kong Illustration Books Summit and Teaching Sharing as a member of the board of directors of The Hong Kong Children’s Art Society in 2015. He demonstrated his teaching of Creative Illustration Books Lesson and shared his Life Education speech. In 2016, he focused on illustration books education research in mainland China.
Work of Charcoal powder portraits
Oscar participates in different Art work actively. He pulls out all the stops to mix up Chinese Art, Western Art and Art Optical Theory of Photography. His charcoal powder portraits have integrated artistic anatomy, medical anatomy and Chinese physiognomy. His unique charcoal powder technique show on over one square meter sketch in black and white. He gives charcoal powder portrait a reposition and spread it out to the world. Besides his annual personal exhibitions, he also took part in different exhibitions of joint Hong Kong and overseas in recent years. His charcoal powder portraits have been collected by many galleries and people in different countries.
Moreover, Oscar’s work, Blood in a Horse, exhibited in professional group of Love Through Books and Drawing, Drawing is Kids’ Dream, 2016 Original Illustration Exhibition of Chen Bochui International Children’s Literature Award in Shanghai. His work is one of the permanent collections in Shanghai Baoshan International Folk Art Museum. His work, Sea Wide Sky, also exhibited in professional group of 2017 Original Illustration Exhibition of Chen Bochui International Children’s Literature Award.
Artistic Creation and Reseach
Oscar’s Tree won the winner of Philippe Charriol Foundation Art 7th Competition in 1993. On photography, he also won the award in The Stories of Hong Kong People by Hong Kong Tourism Board in 2010.
In 2000, Oscar used his technique in photography to help Prof S.W. Chiu, who is a fungi expert in the Department of Biology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, for taking photos of the fungi informations and samples. He also took part in the research of The distinguish abilities of Facial Recognition between an Artist and Non-artist in the Department of Psychology, The Hong Kong University from 2013 to 2017. He gave his opinion and advices in portraits during the research.
