Andrey Lyssenko was born in a dynasty of artists, Lyssenko - Tereshenko, in 1974 (Moscow. Russia). The founder of the dynasty, Official Honored Artist of Russia, Andrey G. Lyssenko (1916-2000) was grandfather of Andrey. Andrey's mother and step-father  are also professional, high educated artists-painters. From early childhood, Andrey showed a predilection for art, and received training from his family members. Andrey's childhood took place in enclave within Moscow designated since ancient time to be the land for artistic community (Like Barbizon in France) so called as famous Verchnyaya Maslovka street, where such world-honored masters as Igor Grabar, Sergey Gerasimov, Yury Pimenov and many other world famous artists lived and worked.


Andrey Lyssenko began his professional art career in Grade School of Arts in 1981. In 1983 he successfully won the examination to a Moscow Central Lyceum of Fine Arts under patronage of  State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov. In 1992 Andrey Lyssenko enrolled in the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov, a branch of the Russian Academy of Fine Arts. While studying at the institute, Lyssenko’s teachers included professors A.Danilichev, I.Shatsky, L.Shepelev, V. Nekrasov. Upon graduation in 1998, Andrey was accepted to Moscow Artists Union and to International Federation of Artists. (That time it was very hard selection to these art-organizations. Only after couple of featured exhibitions and especial decision of honored elder artists it was possible to become a member).


Andrey Lyssenko art life is full of searching of new ways of development of own style of art. Every new work by master is a new research and test of art space. Artist has many travels and journeys for getting new art experiences, knowledge, impressions.


So in period since finalizing of official education he took part in many international and regional plen-air festivals, more than 100 art exhibitions, auction. Even he lucky organized and produced art-community and personal exhibitions and master classes in prestigious art-halls. Also Andrey Lyssenko had successful art-teacher’s practice as art instructor of academic drawing, painting and composition in famous College of Fine Arts and Design named after V. Vasnetsov, under patronage of Stroganoff Academy of Fine Arts.


In 2014 Andrey Lyssenko was awarded of Status of Corresponding Member of International Academy of Culture and Art. The Academy (I.A.K.A.) thus noted his achievements for the development of fine arts and international cultural relations.


Since 2015 A. Lyssenko holds the regional art community Chairman post.


Historical, religious and philosophical themes underlie many of Andrey Lyssenko’s artworks. The deep, restrained, full of the philosophy of the canvas - it is the result of years of thinking, historical and literary knowledge, traveling around the world. "St. Andrei Rubleff", "Blessing", "Noon at the monastery", "From Russian history…", "Peter I met a foreign fleet", "Stalingrad" - in his paintings, the artist tries to express a unique perspective on historical events. The most important aspect of art for Andrey - it's professionalism and sincerity.


Continuity of painting traditions, permanent developing of new creative ideas and intense exhibiting activity are a source of vigor for painter’s creation of new masterpieces. A special place in Andrey Lyssenko art is taken by historical and religiously philosophical painting theme. Synthesis of this rare genre combined with impressionistic landscape painting, still life and portraits open to the Art world the personality of artist Andrey Lyssenko.

A creative impulse inheres in Andrey Lyssenko’s painting. It can be seen in his skill to create something new, original, and inspiring not out of nothing, but on the basis of something that has existed.  Before a picture materializes, in the soul of the painter with the help of some special life-giving force the impulse of the art itself should arise like an inner voice.


Andrey Lyssenko, as a painter, considers nature to be a source of inspiration and harmony; it is not an object that should be copied mechanically. Ask him about his personal attitude to nature as substance. He is afraid of it, he worships it. But his fear is reverential. He copies nature, but he does it in a creative way, not in a subservient, slavish one.


The painter adheres to the following principle: his art should be logical and energetic, and the basic idea of good should not be distorted by alien personal aims, it should not be ousted by them. That’s why it takes a lot of time to conceive each painting. Before a creative idea turns into a picture, it should mature, form, be nurtured.


Religion as a theme of Andrey’s paintings does not lighten his work. Furthermore, it deprives him of some easy means of expression, of hackneyed solutions, blocks the beaten tracks. But it improves his craftsmanship. Having chosen his lot, he should obey austere rules. It is not according to his moral principles to divert attention from the path of art. He bewares not only of the tempting easy ways and success, but of a least reduction in his inner creative straining. He knows that pauses in work turn the flood of ideas into a trickle. So does the carelessness which prevents a picture from meeting the rigorous requirements of the painter.


As for the freedom to portray a historical event or a period piece, the object being portrayed is just a material. The main thing in Andrey’s works is that not only intellect and technique matter, but his emotions and imagination also. On his canvases he depicts some mood which cannot be expressed in words. This is the very thing which painters call “your own point of sight”.

Искусству Андрея Лысенко присуще творящее начало. Это характеризуется

умением создавать не из ничего, а уже из существующего материала нечто но-

вое, оригинальное, способное волновать душу. И прежде, чем картина перейдёт

из сферы идеи в материю, в душе художника, при действии некой особой живо-

творной силы, должно зародиться само начало искусства, подобное внутренне-

му голосу.


Природа для Лысенко, как художника - первый источник вдохновения и гармо-

нии, но не образец для слепого копирования. Спросите у него о личном  отноше-

нии к природе как к сущности. Он её почитает и боится. Но это страх благого-

вейный. Он ей подражает, но это не буквальное и зависимое подражание, а твор-



Автор всегда следует принципу, что его искусство должно быть достаточно

последовательным и энергичным. И чтобы не позволить привнесённым челове-

ческим целям оттеснить главную цель - благо произведения. Поэтому Лысенко

долго предварительно продумывает каждую новую картину. Прежде, чем твор-

ческий замысел воплотится в материале и станет картиной, он долго вызревает

в уме, формируется, вынашивается.


Тема православия не облегчает творческую деятельность Андрея Лысенко.

Наоборот, отнимает у него некоторые лёгкие средства выражения, перекрывает

определённые избитые пути, зато поднимает его уровень и творческий статус.

При всём этом художнику на своей стезе приходится быть добровольно подчи-

нённому своего рода аскезе. Не в его моральных правилах отклоняться от пути

искусства. Он постоянно и бдительно остерегается не только банального собла-

зна лёгкого пути и успеха, но и не допускает ни малейшего ослабления внутренне-

го творческого напряжения. Он знает, что приток художественных идей убывает

даже при перерывах в работе, или при небрежности из-за которой картина может

стать несоответствующей параметрам художника.


Что касается свободы художника в отношении изображения исторических собы-

тий и предметов, то здесь можно сказать, что предмет есть только материя произве-

дения искусства. Главное, что в замыслах  картин Андрея Лысенко принимает учас-

тие не только рассудок и мастерство, но и его воображение и чувства. Он выражает

некий невыразимый словами настрой эмоций и симпатий. Это есть именно то, что

художники называют «своим видением».
