Since my childhood, my first medium was pencil, charcoal and pastel. I attended monumental art classes at the St. Lucas art school in Ghent, Belgium. Drawing also from life models, painting, weaving, Batik and art history were the main issues. From 2010, watercolor became a passion. I followed trainings with national & international masters. As an autodidact i went on further exploring watercolor and is now my main medium.
I am involved in several watercolor assocations. Secretary International Watercolor Society Belgium – International delegate International Watercolor Society Canada – Watercolor delegate Belgium Mondial Art Academia – Member Aquarellistes Francophones Belgique – Member Lak@rt, a Belgian artist group —- member National watercolor society America — member American watercolor Society — member San Diego watercolor society
My works are realistic, partly detailed, partly loose. Both living model and photos are a source of inspiration. Tones & values, the game of light & dark and a specific color palette are the defining elements of personal compositions.
People, animals, flowers, insects, dance, circus, music, exotic oldtimers,… are my favorite subjects. They all tell a fascinating story. And make me feel connected to them. Being an artist is partly working in isolation and partly having social contacts with other artists and your public.
Being an artist is a lifestyle, an engagement. My works were and are exhibited in exhibitions and galeries in Belgium, France, Italy, Sardegna, Canada, Portugal, Bulgaria, Thailand, Indonesia, Romania, Thessaloniki, Kreta, Poland, Ukraine, India, Mexico, Kosovo, Sarajevo, Argentina, Japan and Spain. I also had solo exhibitions in Belgium. 2 of my watercolors are permanently exhibited in the watercolor museum in Fabriano, Italy. In 2021 I organised a large duo exhibition ‘Contrast’ in the medieval building ‘Hof van Ryhove’ in my hometown Ghent together with friend colegue artist Brigitte De Vuyst. About 80 works were exhibited for about 1500 visitors.
