Marie Åkerlund born 1966 is a professional artist from Sweden with juried exhibitions in Europe and the United States, represented in European Art Museums private collection in Denmark and an official member of the French Mondial Art Academia, she is also a glass designer at Reijmyre Glassworks in Sweden.
She has recieved several international art prices for her creative and engagning way to express herself on the international market, and the 2015 years Culture scolarship in Finspång Sweden, with the motivation: ” For portraits and inspiration on an artistic journey. With artwork that passes on aesthetic values in Finspång and in the rest of the World.

"Over the years I have found that viewers of my art often recognize themselves in it. They find grief, despair, desire, happiness and hope. Just like life itself. This soulful aspect of my work is the result of the different feelings I aim to convey, and the varied media I am able to employ. First and foremost acrylics and oil but also graphite and colored pencils in order to achieve my desired result.
I paint what I call ‘Inspirational paintings’ but also realistic paintings, I get my inspiration from nature and life . Whatever I am painting, I want it to be full of a true sense of life, so that people can see the soul within".
