Alexandra Ghimisi is a Romanian-born professional painter, currently based in the UK. A graduate of the National University of Arts Bucharest, where she earned a BA (Hons) in Decorative Arts in 2008, Alexandra transitioned from a successful career in interior design to focus on her passion for painting. Since relocating to the UK in 2016, she has become an active member of the local art scene, exhibiting widely and sharing her knowledge as an art tutor.

Alexandra is a member of the National Acrylic Painters' Association, a Fellow of the Nottingham Society of Artists, and a member of the Visual Artists Association. In 2021, she held her first solo exhibition at the Nottingham Society of Artists Gallery, a pivotal moment in her artistic journey. Alexandra is awarded 'Chevalier Academicienne' by Mondial Art Academia.

Alexandra is a Fellow of the Nottingham Society of Artists, a member of the National Acrylic Painters’ Association and the Visual Artists Association.

She has exhibited widely, including at the ING Discerning Eye 2025, the London Art Biennale, and as a Sky Landscape Artist of the Year Wild Card 2026. Her work is held in private collections across Europe. Her work can be found in both public and private collections across Europe, including France, Italy, and Switzerland.

Alongside her studio practice, she is passionate about nurturing creativity and supporting emerging artists within her community. Passionate about fostering artistic growth, Alexandra regularly organizes exhibitions that feature the work of her students, providing emerging artists with platforms for exposure. Her dedication to nurturing creativity and her commitment to her craft continue to shape her journey as a contemporary artist.

My artistic practice focuses on the connection between nature's cycles and human emotions, exploring how the changing seasons influence our perceptions of colour, mood, and time. Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, I use a semi-abstract style to interpret nature’s transformations, capturing its energy and constant flux. My use of a bright, rich colour palette mirrors the hidden vitality and warmth that persist in nature, even in the heart of winter. Through my work, I aim to evoke a sense of continuity and transformation, reminding viewers that each season, much like life, is part of an ongoing cycle of renewal and change.
