Dirk Liviau (° 1962 Belgium) received his training in photography and digital editing at DIART (Waregem) and Kordial (Kortrijk).
After a successful career as a competition photographer, he discovered new horizons in the world of photography. At the Arles photo festival (France), he met Kamil Vojnar and a new world opened up. Since then, Dirk has devoted himself to assembling photographs and gave his creations the name 'hyfoas' or hybrid photographic assemblages. The surrealist works,take on a new dimension in the form of digital collages. The use of wet or dry concrete, old varnish, cracks in the walls, etc. gives the image an aging process but also carry a magical realistic mystery. In 2022 he went in search of new challenges with his 'hyfoas' process. The results were compiled in the 'Corpus Femina' series, based on Italian and Egyptian frescoes where the fragility and gracefulness of the female body is depicted in subtle colour tones and create a romantic atmosphere. . And then came .... Corona! During this period, the gun changed shoulders and Dirk threw himself wholeheartedly into abstracting his digital photographs. This resulted in "RITMO," a series of 12 creations where movement, color, line play, contrast and rhythm are the keywords.Here, non-figurative photography gets an upgrade and becomes design.
