I have been a wildlife artist focusing on Australian fauna and flora since 1996. My home and studio are nestled on 50 acres in the picturesque Hunter Valley, which views provide daily inspiration for my work. I have had a passion for art and Australian wildlife since I was a child, merging my two loves was a natural progression.
I use acrylic paint on clay coated board, which gives me the smooth surface which I require to achieve intricate details. The finishing touch to most paintings is an ant or two, which have become an unofficial signature in my work. Taking time to venture into the bush is just as important as studio time. I take my camera everywhere to gather reference photos for my work. Apart from wildlife parks, I also visit animal welfare groups that care for orphaned, sick and injured wildlife, I like to create paintings that can bring awareness and hopefully educate the need for conservation of threatened species.
My paintings have been published on numerous calendars, greeting cards, open and limited-edition prints, bone china mugs, trays, coasters, placemats, and jigsaw puzzles. I have also written and illustrated over 30 children's books, most are nature based and have been received warmly in the overseas market.
